Pave Aways Ltd is mid-way through a stern challenge, raising funds by trekking the 177-mile Offas Dyke trail, for a life-saving local charity.

The construction firm based in Knockin has undertaken the ambitious endeavour to fundraise for the renowned West Midlands Search and Rescue charity.

Split into north and south teams, they face an ascent of over 28,000 feet, equivalent to scaling Mount Everest, within a strict timeline of 4.5 days.

Steven Owen, managing director at Pave Aways said: "We've all heard the tragic stories of lives lost to the river, leaving families and communities devastated.

"With this challenge, we're proud to rally behind West Midlands Search & Rescue, supporting their lifesaving efforts and ensuring they have the resources needed to continue their vital work."

Border Counties Advertizer: The north team will meet the south team on April 25

Pave Aways is recognised for its charitable outreach, having secured the Community Champion award at the 2023 Shropshire Chamber Business Awards.

The firm's recent endeavour aims to ensure the #everydayheroes in West Mercia Search & Rescue continue their operations.

These mainly include searching for missing people, saving lives during floods, and responding to emergencies.

Sponsored by Hatfields Shrewsbury, which supplied two vehicles and helped by Radnor Hills, which have provided locally-sourced water, the challenge pivots at Knighton, with the teams meeting there on April 25.

In supporting the West Midlands Search & Rescue, Pave Aways invites contributions of any size via the official total giving page https://www.totalgiving.co.uk/mypage/pave-aways-offas-dyke.

They believe every donation will significantly empower the crucial charity's operations.
